The Good Roll
The Good Roll produces sustainable toilet paper made from bamboo. The toilet rolls are packed in a colorful wrapper in a factory in Weesp, stickered and shipped. This is done by a diverse mix of people with a distance to the labor market. In doing so, they gain work experience and social contacts (again) and are part of society again.
Land Life Company
Land Life, Green Challenge Winner in 2015, restores landscape by planting trees and sells the CO2 rights that these trees realize. The Cocoon from Land Life Company is a water reservoir for young planted trees, making irrigation unnecessary. This significantly increases the tree’s chance of survival in arid areas. This makes land restoration a lot easier. In addition, the product is biodegradable.
Orbisk
Orbisk is an impact-driven start-up that combats food waste in corporate catering and catering establishments. Orbisk is developing an image recognition technology with the help of artificial intelligence to map food waste in the hospitality industry. With this technology, a camera above a waste bin and a scale in a restaurant kitchen, restaurants can measure exactly how much food they throw away per day. This allows them to save many kilos of food per year. The image recognition technology not only measures how much food restaurants throw away, but also what is thrown away. This provides insights that chefs and buyers can use to adjust their purchasing, stock management and menus.
Veridis
Veridis has developed an innovative technology (“MADSCAN”) crucial for parties in the chain to achieve high-quality recycling possible. This technology can provide a stable, high-quality better recyclate that can be recycled more often and can be used in a high-quality way. Veridis thus provides a important contribution towards a circular chain and an alternative for the use of fossil raw materials.
Grounded
Grounded Investment Company invests in agricultural entrepreneurs in East and South Africa, with a focus on processing plants for non-perishable high-value crops such as tea and spices. Grounded Investment Company takes a very hands-on approach to increase the impact of the companies and to help smallholder farmers in the region in the transition to a regenerative agriculture system.
Chocolatemakers
Chocolatemakers makes fair chocolate; sustainable and traditional. The company has the entire chain in its own hands and stands for high quality. Chocolatemakers pays cocoa farmers a living income and ensures they receive proper training and education. The cocoa is produced free from slavery and child labor. Some of the cocoa beans are transported to the Netherlands emission-free, aboard the sailing ship Tres Hombres. Once in Amsterdam, Chocolatemakers turns the beans into delicious organic chocolate in their own chocolate factory. The roof is entirely covered with solar panels. Processing and packaging are done in a CO2-neutral way. Chocolatemakers operates waste-free, and all packaging is fully compostable. In the six countries where the cocoa is sourced, Chocolatemakers works with farmers’ cooperatives to support land and nature restoration.
