ZonnepanelenDelen is the largest crowdfunding platform for solar energy projects in the Netherlands. DOEN is already a 9.1% shareholder in ZonnepanelenDelen (ZPD) through an investment of € 171k at the beginning of 2015. In the 4 years that followed, 5,370 consumers, ZonneDelers, with more than € 9 million. 65 solar projects financed with 3-6% returns. These numbers are continuously increasing through new projects. Because sustainable energy should not only be able to be for everyone, but also for everyone. This is a spearhead from DOEN’s 5-year plan. The number of solar energy projects in the Netherlands is growing rapidly and there is a risk that the benefits of this will remain with traditional financiers. ZPD breaks through this: from as little as € 25, every Dutch person can invest in solar energy projects and thus build social support for that project.
