Food for Skin is receiving an investment from DOEN Ventures B.V. and impact entrepreneur Henk Jan Beltman’s genuine business B.V., together with funding from the Rabo Foundation

9 September 2025

Today, Food for Skin, the Dutch skincare brand that makes high-quality skincare products from upcycled ingredients, is proud to announce an investment from three powerful impact investors: DOEN Ventures, Henk Jan Beltman’s genuine business company – the home of Tony’s Chocolonely – and the Rabo Foundation. With the funding and know-how of these impact partners, we can collectively make a greater impact in the European skincare industry.

This strategic partnership will enable Food for Skin to accelerate its mission to become a leader in responsibly produced skincare in Europe.

“Food For Skin was a finalist in our Fair Future Challenge, for impactful entrepreneurs with sustainable and socially inclusive products. Their enormous drive to make an impact and make the cosmetics industry more sustainable was immediately noticeable: not because they were shouting about it, but by doing it. With their high-quality alternative, they are showing that skincare can really be different.” – Noortje van Heijst, Investment Manager at DOEN Ventures.

The investment will enable Food for Skin to increase its impact by:

  • Reaching more consumers in the Netherlands and Europe
  • Setting up local upcycling projects and combatting food waste
  • Developing new products that are really needed
  • Expanding the team
  • Giving more people in the supply chain economic independence

Food for Skin’s products are 100% natural, vegan, locally produced and upcycled where possible. Food for Skin uses oils and extracts from waste tomatoes, avocados and broccoli, for example, for maximum skin nutrition and minimum impact on the planet. Food for Skin’s motto is that truly sustainable skincare starts with smart choices in the supply chain. Less waste, more value.

“Your skin is your largest organ, so protect and care for it well, without all kinds of nonsense, micro-plastics or nasty ingredients. With a strong team, Food for Skin is humbly following in the footsteps of Anita Roddick, whose powerful quote was ‘If you think you’re too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito.’” – Henk Jan Beltman

In addition to the investment in shares of DOEN Ventures and genuine business, the Rabo Foundation is funding the growth of Food for Skin with a long-term loan. The Rabo Foundation will also contribute knowledge and expertise to increase social impact.

“With the investment from DOEN Ventures, genuine business and funding from the Rabo Foundation, Food for Skin is building a strong foundation of knowledge and financial resources in order to become a leader in the high-quality and responsibly produced skincare industry. We’re not doing that alone, but together!” – Angela Ursem, co-founder and Captain of Food for Skin.

Food for Skin was established at the end of 2020 by Cathy Molenaar, Angela Ursem and Manon Fennis with a mission to make the beauty industry a little more beautiful. Not only from the outside, but also from the inside. With transparency, honesty and radical simplicity.
