The Good Roll Uses Toilet Paper to Drive Change

14 July 2026

For one in three people around the world, access to a clean and safe toilet is still not a given. At the same time, thousands of trees are cut down every day to produce toilet paper. With sustainable toilet paper and investments in sanitation, The Good Roll addresses both challenges while creating employment opportunities for people who face barriers to entering the labour market.

Sustainable from Start to Finish

The Good Roll produces toilet paper from 100% European recycled paper and bamboo. Its products are free from chlorine and plastic, making them a sustainable alternative to conventional toilet paper. In doing so, the company helps reduce the demand for virgin wood fibres and lowers its environmental impact.

Clean Toilets for Everyone

The Good Roll’s mission goes beyond making a sustainable product. The company donates 50% of its net profit to The Good Roll Foundation. This funding is used to build safe, clean toilets in Ghana, giving more people access to proper sanitation. In this way, The Good Roll contributes to better health, greater safety and a higher quality of life.

Sustainable Impact Through Inclusive Employment

The Good Roll also creates social impact in the Netherlands. Some of its products are packaged by people who face barriers to entering the labour market. In this way, the company not only produces a more sustainable product but also creates opportunities for employment and personal development.

By combining social and environmental impact, The Good Roll shows that business can be done differently.

The Good Roll was featured in the TV programme Postcode Lottery Eén Tegen 100.

DOEN Ventures invests in The Good Roll thanks to the players of the Postcode Loterij.
